Presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has said he will not attend the announcement of the party’s presidential primary election results scheduled for Tuesday.
In a statement posted on X, Hayatu-Deen said his decision followed reports of irregularities during the exercise.
“I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC Presidential Election Results today,” he stated.
The aspirant alleged that the primary election was affected by widespread vote manipulation across parts of the country.
“I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps,” he added.
The ADC is expected to announce the outcome of its presidential and other elective primaries after the completion of the voting process.
Hayatu-Deen is among the contenders for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election. Other aspirants include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
