The declaration was made on Tuesday during a political gathering in Gombe, attended by former governor Ibrahim Dankwambo alongside other party figures.
Pantami, who previously served as Minister of Communications and Digital Economy from 2019 to 2023 under the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, is reported to have withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary before moving to secure the PDP ticket.
Party leaders in Gombe confirmed that his request to contest under the PDP platform was approved after consultations within the state structure.
