A 19-year-old student from Anambra State, Franklin Uyammadu, has emerged winner of the Face of Eastwing Competition organised by the Eastwing Aviation Institute, Enugu.
Uyammadu was declared the winner at the grand finale of the competition held on Monday in Enugu through the Eastwing Youth Foundation.
His victory earned him a four-month Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) training with a reputable aviation company.
The teenager previously won the 2025 edition of the competition after defeating 50 other youths at the inaugural South-East Aviation Summit and Eastwing Youth Competition (SASEYC).
Following his victory, the Eastwing Aviation Institute awarded him a full scholarship to study Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME).
Christian Agadibe, Executive Director of the Eastwing Youth Foundation and Convener of SASEYC, said Uyammadu’s progress demonstrated the impact of the scholarship programme.
Agadibe said the institute had funded the teenager’s training through its AME programme, while efforts were ongoing to secure sponsorship for other finalists.
He said the initiative was aimed at expanding access to aviation training for young people who might otherwise struggle to afford it.
According to him, Uyammadu’s progress showed that the youth-focused programme was helping participants pursue careers in the aviation sector.
Agadibe also said the ongoing second edition of the competition had produced another group of young people who would require support beyond the contest.
He said the 2026 edition of SASEYC was progressing, with the top 10 finalists undergoing further training ahead of the summit scheduled for October 3 in Enugu.
Agadibe expressed confidence that another winner would emerge at the summit.
