Segun Showunmi, former spokesperson to Atiku Abubakar, has praised Seyi Tinubu, describing him as “a son worthy of admiration” and saying every father would be grateful to have a child like him.

Showunmi, convener of The Alternative movement, made the remarks after visiting the office of the City Boy Movement, where Seyi personally showed him around the facility.

In a Facebook post, Showunmi said his impression of the organisation was shaped less by its physical structure than by what he described as an inclusive culture involving young Nigerians from different ethnic, religious and social backgrounds.

“No father can have a son like Seyi Tinubu and not be deeply thankful to Almighty God,” Showunmi wrote.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I am genuinely happy for you. There are many achievements a man may record in public life, but among the greatest blessings bestowed upon any father is to see his values reflected in his children.”

Showunmi said he saw in Seyi a young man working to justify the confidence placed in him through effort and commitment.

He also praised the City Boy Movement for what he described as deliberate efforts to promote inclusion, noting that the organisation has a gender-balanced structure and includes persons living with disabilities.

According to him, his strongest impression came from observing how Seyi interacted with members of his team.

“What struck me most, however, was not the structure but the culture. I watched Seyi interact with his team. I saw him share snacks with members of his back-end staff,” he said.

“There was no air of superiority, no unnecessary distance. Respect flowed naturally. The people around him appeared motivated not merely because they worked with him, but because they felt valued by him.”

Showunmi said leadership is often best demonstrated away from public attention, adding that Seyi’s conduct reflected humility and a commitment to service.

“As for me, I see in Seyi a younger brother whose dedication, energy, and commitment to service make me proud,” he said.

He also commended Seyi for what he described as efforts to build bridges across Nigeria’s ethnic and social divides.

“The seeds you are planting today will bear fruit tomorrow. The hours you spend, the sacrifices you make, and the bridges you are building across our national divides will not go unnoticed,” Showunmi said.

He expressed confidence that Seyi’s activities would contribute to the political cause he supports while showing that political engagement can be organised, inclusive, respectful and purposeful.

“Every father desires a son who will add value to his legacy. Every nation needs young men and women prepared to work, unite people, and serve with humility. From what I have seen, Seyi Tinubu is striving to be such a man,” he added.
