The husband of former Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, has died at the age of 62.

The Adeosun family announced his death in a statement on Thursday, saying he passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos.

The family described the late businessman as a committed Christian whose life reflected integrity, generosity, diligence and service to God.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Tuesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

According to the family, Mr Adeosun was respected for his dedication to his family, faith and community, noting that he influenced many people through his character and acts of service.

“He was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him. He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the statement added.

Mr Adeosun, who built a successful business career, was said to have earned the respect of colleagues, associates and friends through his values and personal conduct.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, his children, siblings, including the Founder of Kuramo Capital, Mr Adewale (Wale) Adeosun, as well as other relatives, friends and associates.

The family said it was drawing strength from its Christian faith while mourning his death and appealed for privacy during the period of grief.

It added that details of his funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced later.

The Adeosun family also thanked those who had reached out with prayers, condolence messages and other forms of support following the news of his passing.

The statement, signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, ended with a biblical passage from Revelation 14:13 and a prayer for the peaceful rest of Mr Adeosun’s soul.
