The attack occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, while candidates were writing their examination.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Salisu Oyiza, the armed attackers abducted the victims from the school premises during the incident.
The police said a joint security team comprising officers and other security agencies launched an immediate search-and-rescue operation following the attack.
One of the abducted students has since been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims and arrest those responsible.
"The combined security team is currently on the trail of the assailants. One of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators," the statement said.
The command also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Naziru Kankarofi, alongside the Brigade Commander and the State Security Adviser to the Governor, was heading to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
Police authorities said a more detailed statement will be issued as additional verified information becomes available.
The incident adds to growing security concerns in parts of Kogi State, where cases of kidnapping and attacks by armed groups have continued to pose challenges for residents and institutions.
