The Imo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a married woman at Owelu in Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred on Sunday, July 13, when the woman's husband allegedly went to a church where she was attending a service and attacked her. She died from the assault.

According to reports, the suspect fled the scene with two of their three children, leaving behind their infant, who is only a few months old. The motive for the attack has not yet been established.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, SP Henry Okoye, said the Divisional Police Officer of the Owerri North Divisional Headquarters had visited the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Okoye said efforts have been intensified to arrest the suspect and safely rescue the two children taken from the scene.

He appealed to members of the public with useful information about the suspect's whereabouts to report to the Owerri North Divisional Police Headquarters or contact the Imo State Police Command's emergency line on 0803 477 3600.
