A member of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a brief stint with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Tomas, who represents Makoda State Constituency, announced his decision during a visit to the residence of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, in Abuja on Monday.
He was accompanied by the Chairmen of Makoda and Dambatta Local Government Areas, Alhaji Isa Currency and Alhaji Jamilu Abubakar Dambatta.
Senator Barau confirmed the development in a statement signed personally on Monday, describing the lawmaker’s return as a positive development for the party in Kano State.
According to the Deputy Senate President, Tomas’ decision reflects confidence in the APC’s leadership and direction.
“Today, I had the honour of receiving back Hon. Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Makoda State Constituency, to our great party, the All Progressives Congress, from the Nigeria Democratic Congress,” Barau said.
He noted that the lawmaker’s return would strengthen the APC’s political structure in Kano North Senatorial District and across the state ahead of future political contests.
Barau also assured Tomas of equal opportunities within the party and urged APC members to remain united as political activities gather momentum toward the 2027 general elections.
The latest defection adds to a series of political realignments in Kano, where parties are positioning themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
