A 34-year-old man, Rabiu Mukthar, has allegedly shot dead a wedding guest and injured three others in Kano State after becoming angry over loud music at the ceremony.
The incident occurred in Tudun Yola Quarters, where Mukthar allegedly came out of his house and opened fire on people attending the wedding.
The spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident in a statement.
According to Kiyawa, the suspect allegedly used a pump-action gun to fire sporadically at the gathering.
Police officers responded after receiving information about the shooting and arrested Mukthar and another suspect. The firearm allegedly used in the attack was also recovered.
Kiyawa said Mukthar told investigators that the organisers had not consulted him before holding the ceremony.
The suspect allegedly said the loud music disturbed his sleep, prompting him to open fire.
The two suspects are currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Kano State Police Command as investigations continue.
Police said further details would be provided as the investigation progresses.
