A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the financial dealings and sources of wealth of popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.
Ogah, who represents the Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, is seeking an audit of Cubana Chief Priest’s assets and financial activities following allegations of money laundering and suspicious financial transactions.
The petition comes after a public dispute between the socialite and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru.
The dispute followed a viral video in which Cubana Chief Priest criticised Governor Nwifuru’s administration, describing it as a failure and calling for his resignation.
Ogah subsequently defended the governor, accusing the socialite of attempting to undermine the progress of the state.
The lawmaker also challenged Cubana Chief Priest to identify and declare the legitimate businesses through which he funds his lifestyle, leading to his decision to petition the EFCC for an investigation.
The EFCC has not officially confirmed receipt of the petition, while representatives of Cubana Chief Priest have yet to issue a formal response to the allegations.
