Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, says he will spend the Sallah holiday with the Sultan of Sokoto if elected president in the 2027 general election.
Obi made the statement during an interview with Arise TV while criticising President Bola Tinubu for spending Sallah holidays in Lagos.
He said he would use the occasion to promote unity and engage Nigerians on the country’s future.
“I will go to Sokoto and spend the Sallah with the Sultan and bring everybody together and we will discuss the future. I will go to Kano,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor also discussed the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 election, saying the party would establish a system for transmitting polling-unit results to its situation room.
Obi also said he did not reject an offer to serve as running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, in the 2027 election.
