A 40-year-old man identified simply as Felix, said to be from Cross River State, was found dead in a guest house along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, under circumstances now being investigated by police.
Felix was reportedly found naked in a room at the guest house in the early hours of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, after a cleaner alerted others to the incident. A woman who was reportedly seen with him before the incident was no longer at the scene when the body was discovered.
According to eyewitnesses, several sachets of alcoholic drinks were recovered from the room before police cordoned off the area and evacuated the body.
The incident attracted sympathisers to the Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex, where the deceased worked as a mobile phone repairer.
Three people, including the guest house owner and the cleaner, were reportedly taken into custody as part of the investigation.
Felix's brother, Dennis, was also briefly detained after he was found with the deceased's mobile phone. He was later released after explaining that a phone charging operator had handed him the device when attempts to reach Felix proved unsuccessful.
Police have not established the cause of death and say investigations are ongoing. Authorities are also working to identify and locate the woman who was reportedly with the deceased before his death.
