Police in Thailand have reported the arrest of a suspected drug dealer following an undercover operation in which officers disguised themselves as street performers during a local festival.
The operation took place in Lopburi province, where a team of five male officers and one female officer blended into a street dance event while posing as performers. Police say the approach was designed to allow closer access to a suspect believed to be involved in drug distribution in the area.
The suspect, identified by authorities as Mekha Fa-wap-wap, was detained during the operation. Officers say they recovered 53 methamphetamine tablets, more than 200 small plastic bags commonly used for drug packaging, and a mobile phone.
According to police reports cited by local media, the suspect had been under observation prior to the festival. The disguise was used to avoid alerting him during the crowded public event.
Authorities also allege the suspect is linked to additional offences, including possession of narcotics with intent to sell and involvement in an illegal gambling device.
He is currently in custody and is expected to face formal charges as legal proceedings continue.
Following the arrest, images shared by the officers on social media showing them in festival attire circulated widely online, drawing public attention to the unusual nature of the operation.
