The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, over the alleged rape of a 15-year-old domestic worker in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Jimoh said the girl’s guardian reported the matter at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station after noticing that the teenager had repeatedly left home without permission.

According to the police, the girl told investigators that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her.

The disclosure prompted police operatives to begin an investigation, which led to Onaola’s arrest.

Jimoh said the case had been transferred to the command’s gender-based offences unit for further investigation.

He added that the teenager had been placed under appropriate care while the police continued to handle the case in line with procedures for alleged sexual offences involving minors.

Onaola remains in police custody and will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded, the spokesperson said.
