Tension has gripped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State following the death of the party’s chairman in Udenu Local Government Area, Hon. Chisimdiri Emmanuel Ngwu.
Ngwu was reportedly found dead outside his residence in the early hours of Wednesday, August 19, 2026, shortly after leaving his home.
A family source told our correspondent that Ngwu woke up early that morning and walked out of the house but did not return.
“He woke up early in the morning on Wednesday and walked out, and that was the last we heard of him,” the source said.
The source said the family became concerned after noticing that Ngwu was missing. His lifeless body was later found in front of the compound.
“When we woke up, we didn’t see him, only to discover his lifeless body in front of our compound. We saw scratches on his neck, which was twisted backwards,” the source added.
The circumstances surrounding his death have raised concerns among his family, political associates and members of the ADC.
Two persons have reportedly been arrested in connection with the incident, although their identities and the circumstances of their arrest were not immediately known.
The spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said he was not aware of the incident and could not immediately confirm the report.
The immediate past chairman of the ADC in Enugu State, Mrs Stella Chukwuma, however, confirmed Ngwu’s death.
Ngwu was said to have been one of the longest-serving members of the ADC in the state.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
