Suspected armed men have attacked Ayegunle Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, leaving one person dead and more than 30 others abducted.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026, around 2:25 a.m., when the attackers stormed the community and carried out the operation for several minutes without resistance.
Local sources confirmed that one resident was killed during the attack, while another sustained injuries.
According to reports from a local news outlet, two residents of Ayegunle Bunu—a man and a woman—were among those taken away by the attackers. The remaining victims were said to be passengers travelling in a commercial bus that was intercepted as it passed through the area.
The attackers reportedly fled with the victims to an unknown location.
The latest assault has heightened concerns among residents over rising insecurity in Kogi State, particularly along routes connecting communities near the border with Kwara State.
