The communities of Ukwulu, Ifitedunu and Umudioka in Anambra State have endorsed Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife, CON, for re-election to the Senate in 2027, citing her contributions to infrastructure, education, community development and humanitarian support.
The endorsement was made on Monday during Ekwunife’s campaign tour of the 58 communities in Anambra Central Senatorial District. Traditional rulers, Presidents-General, community leaders, traders and residents turned out to receive the senator and express their support for her return to the National Assembly.
At the three communities, stakeholders highlighted more than 30 projects and interventions attributed to Ekwunife, describing her record of constituency engagement as a reason to support her for another term.
Community representatives took turns recounting projects and other interventions they said had positively affected their communities. They maintained that her accessibility, commitment to constituency development and record of representation informed their decision to endorse her.
Before the main engagements, Ekwunife and her entourage paid visits to traditional rulers and community leaders in the three communities.
In Ukwulu, the delegation was received by HRM Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa, Ezedike I of Ukwulu Kingdom, and the President-General, Hon. Uba Ayiofu.
In Umudioka, the delegation was welcomed by the Regent/Onowu, Chief Dr. Amuta Benedict Chukwuemeka, Ugochukwutubelu Dunukofia, alongside the President-General, Chief Adinnu Onyechi Valentine.
At Ifitedunu, Ekwunife met with His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr. Chukwuemekalum Ilounoegbunam, Eze Dunu II, and the President-General, Prof. Stephen Uchenna Ufoaroh.
Other personalities who accompanied the senator included Chief Arthur Mbuba, Chief Donatus Okeke and Mr. Norbert Ezeani, all from Nri. Also on the tour were the APC candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Barr. Kingsley Ezekwelu; Campaign Council Chairman, Chief Edwin Ubboh; and Director-General of the Campaign Council, Dr. Chidi Chidebe, among other political leaders and stakeholders.
Addressing the gatherings, Ekwunife thanked the traditional rulers, community leaders and residents for their reception and confidence in her representation.
She said another term in the Senate would provide an opportunity to expand development projects and attract more federal interventions to Anambra Central.
The senator also pointed to the prospect of returning as a ranking member of the Senate, arguing that the experience and position could strengthen her capacity to influence legislative leadership, secure strategic committee appointments and attract federal resources to the district.
She pledged to build on her previous achievements and intensify efforts in constituency development, promising greater attention to the needs of communities across the senatorial district.
Ekwunife described the endorsements as encouragement for her ongoing community-to-community engagements and thanked residents for their participation in the campaign tour.
The visits to Ukwulu, Ifitedunu and Umudioka mark the opening phase of her engagements across the 58 communities of Anambra Central ahead of the 2027 senatorial election.
