APGA has explained the reasons behind its endorsement of President Bola Tinubu as its preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, citing party policy and confidence in his reform agenda.
The party's National Chairman, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, disclosed this during an appearance on Channels Television's *The Morning Show* on Friday.
According to Ezeokenwa, APGA's decision is consistent with a longstanding policy adopted by the party during the 2010–2011 political season when it backed then-President Goodluck Jonathan for the presidency.
He said the party has maintained that policy over the years and saw no reason to depart from it.
Ezeokenwa added that APGA believes President Tinubu is steering the country in the right direction through reforms that align with the party's progressive ideals.
> "The party believes that the president is steering the country in the right direction. Given the needed reforms that the president has orchestrated, which align with the progressive agenda of APGA, it is in the best interest of the party to adopt the candidacy of President Bola Tinubu," he said.
APGA formally announced its endorsement of President Tinubu on Wednesday, making him the party's preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
