The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy, Kelvin Faga, for allegedly staging his own kidnapping to obtain N200,000 from his father.

The teenager was arrested alongside his 17-year-old accomplice, identified as Mayowa Ojewuyi, in Suleja, following an investigation by police detectives.

According to a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Kelvin reportedly went missing after attending church on July 20, 2026, and did not return home.

The following day, his family received a phone call from someone claiming the boy had been abducted and demanding a ransom of N200,000.

After the matter was reported at B Division, Suleja, police operatives began an investigation that led them to a hotel in Suleja, where Kelvin was found with Ojewuyi on July 25.

During interrogation, the two suspects allegedly admitted that they planned to collect the money from Kelvin’s father and share the proceeds between them.

The police said the suspects remain in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and would be charged to court after the completion of the process.
