The people of Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State have pledged their support for Senator Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.

The pledge was made during the third day of Ekwunife's community tour, which attracted a large turnout of residents, traditional leaders, party members and political stakeholders.

The gathering was marked by chants of "Nwanyi ge jee" and "Ka Nwanyi jekene" as supporters welcomed the senator and expressed their backing for her aspiration.

Speaking on behalf of Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, Chief Romanus Anyisia, Ichie Obodo Dike II, who led the Igwe-in-Council delegation, said Ojoto was prepared to support Ekwunife because of her record in public service.

He described her aspiration as one built on experience and demonstrated performance, adding that the community would not allow itself to be misled by political promises.

"Ojoto will not be deceived again," he declared.

Several political figures and community stakeholders attended the event, including Hon. KK Ezekwelu, APC candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency; Chief Augustine Muomaife; Hon. Ossy Egwuatu; Dr Chidi Chidubem; Rev. Uche Ibeabuchi; Hon. Tony Uche Ezekwelu; and Okello Madukaife.

Addressing the gathering, APC Zonal Vice Chairman, Chief Augustine Muomaife, urged the people to support a candidate whose previous tenure in the Senate, he said, demonstrated the capacity to represent the district effectively.

Hon. KK Ezekwelu also expressed confidence in Ekwunife's chances, predicting a strong APC victory in Ojoto during the 2027 election.

When Ekwunife addressed the gathering, she highlighted some of the projects and interventions she said she facilitated in the community during her previous time in office.

They included borehole projects, educational materials, tricycles, solar-powered streetlights and grants to 17 indigenes of Ojoto.

She urged residents to assess political candidates based on their records and contributions rather than promises made during election campaigns. She also cautioned against politicians who visit communities only when elections approach.

The senator called on voters to support APC candidates across the different levels of government, arguing that cooperation between the senator, the House of Representatives member and the government at the centre would create better opportunities for development.

The presence of APC candidates, party officials and supporters at the event provided an opportunity for the party to present a coordinated political message ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Ojoto engagement formed part of Ekwunife's ongoing consultations across communities in Anambra Central as she seeks support for her return to the Senate.
