A former African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency, Balarabe Lawal Daga, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State.
Daga was among opposition politicians from the ADC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who defected to the APC in Baure Local Government Area on Saturday.
The defection ceremony was attended by Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, who welcomed the new members into the ruling party.
Daga, who contested the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency election on the ADC platform, was one of the prominent figures to leave the opposition camp.
Radda said the development would strengthen the APC’s structure in Baure Local Government Area and urged members to work together and maintain peaceful relations at the grassroots.
The governor said the movement of politicians from different opposition parties indicated increased support for the APC in the area.
He, however, warned party members against using the defection event for campaign activities, stressing that campaigns would commence at the appropriate time.
Radda also urged APC stakeholders to remain focused on governance and continue engaging with residents at the grassroots.
