British-Nigerian influencer Igho Ubiribo, a friend and associate of Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, died from complications linked to a penis enlargement procedure he underwent in Thailand, an inquest has heard.
Ubiribo, 43, died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the procedure, according to a ruling by coroner Jean Harkin.
A post-mortem report by UK pathologist John du Parcq found cellular material in Ubiribo’s lungs that matched hyaluronic acid used in the filler injection. The findings were consistent with a pulmonary embolism and also corresponded with the results of an autopsy conducted in Thailand.
The inquest heard that Ubiribo received about 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a clinic in Thailand in March while on holiday with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen.
Following the procedure, Ubiribo was receiving a massage when he complained of chest pain and lost consciousness twice. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.
His death was subsequently linked to complications arising from the procedure.
Ubiribo was buried in London in May. Davido and other friends and associates, including celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, attended the funeral.
