Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has dismissed reports linking him to an alleged $75,000 romance scam, describing the claims as false and without evidence.

Reports circulating online on Friday alleged that the actor had been invited for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), working alongside the FBI, over a complaint filed by a 49-year-old American woman identified as Kimberly Ann. The reports claimed the woman alleged she had been in an online relationship with someone posing as the actor since 2025.

Reacting through his Instagram Stories, Ogbonna denied any involvement in the allegations.

"This report is completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis. I don't support or participate in any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity," he wrote.

The actor also said his identity has repeatedly been used by fraudsters operating fake social media accounts to deceive members of the public.

According to him, he has never authorised anyone to represent him online, request money on his behalf, or engage in private conversations while pretending to be him.

Ogbonna urged fans and the public to remain alert and avoid interacting with impersonators and fake accounts that use his name and image to carry out scams.

As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC had not issued an official statement on the matter.
