The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 44-year-old content creator, popularly known as  Odogwu Asaba, over allegations of raping a 21-year-old woman who later died by suicide.

Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, saying the suspect is in police custody.

According to reports, the woman was allegedly lured to Asaba by the suspect with promises of assistance before the alleged assault. She was later reported to have taken her own life.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday at his residence in Asaba following a petition submitted by Warri-based human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe.

Police have not released the identity of the deceased. Authorities say investigations are ongoing, while the suspect is being held in connection with the case.

Reacting to the arrest, Israel Joe commended the Delta State Police Command for its response and called for a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

The police have yet to provide further details on the case.
